Allo Abriès!

Abries, over 2000 meters in the French Alpes

So we gone to Abriès. According to Wiki, is a French commune in the Hautes-Alpes department in southeastern France that belonging in the regional park Queyras. The more difficult access to Abriès is along the raging river Guil,  but you can walk for long distances on trails in a clean natural environment. This year, probably because of heavy snowfall, there are a lot of visitors to the ski resort.

Even though there's a river, Abriès is high up, maybe 2000 meters above sea level. It's only opened up late in the last century. However, it was always a crossing to Italy from the southern Alps in France! Hmmm, escapees, smugglers, rugged foot caravans!
From up here you can see forever!

So anyway, here we are in a true true ski resort. There's always a Petite Fringale in these resorts - you can have a coffee, a glass of wine and a tartine which is a French sandweeeech.

Well, ze purpose uv ze Ski is ze Apres-Ski, n'est-ce-pas?

Pierre never gets enough climbing in snow! Abominable snowman!

My soeur Indra

Reminds me how much I am missing my Sox!
Thought of hopping/ walking/ trekking over to Helen in Varese Italy, but don't have Pierre's stamina for the mountains, for the snow, or for the mountains plus the snow!

Ski slope!

People live here in the valley of the Guil! Do you see the houses against the bottom of that hill?
